Reduced lighting costs and urban heat island effect

Bright concrete surfaces have a better light reflection than asphalt and therefore allow saving in highway lighting costs.  In addition, it results in better night-time visibility for motorists.  The smaller heat absorption also helps mitigate heat island effects in urban areas.

Other cement and concrete's credentials concern:

Durability and longevity, constituting a cost-effective and environmental advantage;

Safe and comfortable surfaces;

Techniques of soil treatment and land remediation;

Permeable pavements;

Recyclability of concrete;

Use of low energy cements;

Lower fuel consumption for heavy trucks;

No danger of leaching.
