TREMTI 2009, continued in 2010 Symposium

The 3rd International Symposium on Treatment and Retreatment of Materials for Transport Infrastructure (TREMTI 2009) was held in Antigua (Guatemala) from 11 to 13 November 2009. TREMTI 2009 took place in a difficult international context, in full economic crisis. But, thanks to the organization, the good atmosphere and the hospitality of the Guatemalan hosts, as well as the technical exchanges between countries, it can be considered a success.

However, the number of papers received from Europe and other leading areas in the use of these techniques was relatively small in comparison with the previous editions in Salamanca (2001) and Paris (2005).
Therefore, the organizers believe that the 11th International Symposium on Concrete Pavements, to be held in Seville (Spain) from 13 till 15 October 2010, will provide an excellent opportunity to assemble experts from all around the world interested in the use of cement in pavements and other related applications. Therefore, a number of sessions shall be devoted to the same topics dealt with in TREMTI, i.e. soil stabilisation and pavement recycling using cement, lime or hydraulic road binders.
Two types of papers may be submitted:
1. Papers, in the form of case studies, dealing with the fields of application concerned, namely:
roads and motorways;
airports;
railways;
harbours and maritime and river structures;
urban structures;
industrial and commercial platforms, etc.
For this type of papers, care should be taken to separate the specific details peculiar to each field of application or to each structure: embankments, capping layers, pavement, trench filling...
2. Papers dealing with more specific topics, chosen from among the following subjects:
Studies
- Recognition of materials, considering their heterogeneity
- Study of mix designs
- Influence of climatic parameters (humidity, dryness, frost)
- Influence of disruptive elements (organic matter...)
- Accelerated ageing tests
Specific placement methods and precautions
- Modification of water content
- Struggle against cracking (delamination, shrinkage...)
- Bonding of layers in treated soils
- Applications in urban areas
- Quality control
Technological progress
- Binders
- Moistening
- Spraying of binders
- Mixing, in situ or at plant
- Compaction
Subjects of general interest
- Treatment of soils containing sulphates and sulphures
- Design and maintenance of structures in treated material
- Stability and durability of treated structures
- Environmental considerations
- Economic considerations
- Key parameters of this successful technique
- Codification (guides, standards...)
For both types of papers, special care should be given to proposals which present innovations or which pave the way for new research areas.
Author(s) interested to submitt an abstract, are requested to send it by email to the Technical Secretariat of the Symposium (EUPAVE: info@eupave.eu) before 15 March 2010.
Abstract(s) must be written in English and may not exceed 200 words.
Acceptance of the summaries is the responsibility of the International Technical Programme Committee (ITPC) of the Symposium.
All authors will be notified end of April 2010 on the acceptance of their abstract.
The deadline for submission of the full papers is 15 May 2010. To write your full paper, please follow the instructions as indicated in the Paper Guidelines of the Symposium.
