Abstract:
Experience has confirmed the beneficial effects for pavements of subgrades which are not sensitive to moisture changes and strong enough to withstand work traffic without erosion or deformation. However, many natural soils are of poor quality, their use being only possible by means of improvement or stabilization with cement or lime to give an adequate bearing capacity. 
 
This technique, used for years in highways and railways, has now been applied to all type of works. 
 
The manual gives detailed information on the characteristics of stabilized materials, their technical specification, possibilities of use and design methods. Guidance is also provided on machinery, execution methods and how to select the most suitable binder depending on the properties of the soil and the envisaged bearing capacity. Quality control procedures are also examined in detail due to their special relevance in this type of works, characterized in general by very high outputs. Chapters dealing with health and safety, environmental protection, and economic considerations, all of which are of great practical importance, have also been included.

Abstract:
The purpose of this manual is to provide guidance to those people having to design or to build pavements with cement-treated layers (consulting firms, contractors, laboratories or administrations). 
 
It has been prepared keeping in mind the following premises: simplicity and conciseness to avoid misunderstandings; inclusion only of consolidated and well-tried techniques; and adequacy for all types of administrations or companies - although it mostly follows the Specifications for Road and Bridge Works (PG-3) of the Spanish Ministry of Development. 
 
In this Manual the basic concepts of cement-treated materials are examined - the properties of the different types of mixtures, their mix design and characterization, and the most appropriate practices concerning design, construction and quality control of  pavements with cement-treated layers. Precracking techniques are also described in detail.

Abstract:
This publications describes in detail several techniques in common use to obtain, in an economic and durable way, a great variety of aesthetic effects in pavements and walls combining colour and texture: coloured concrete,  stamped concrete and exposed aggregate, each one with different alternatives. 
 
Logically, the first one can be combined with the other two methods. A brief mention is also made of several procedures (thin overlays with polymer mortars, self-levelling pavements, monolithic terrazzo, etc.) which enlarge the possibilities of these techniques. Finally some indications are given for the proper design and execution of concrete pavements intended to receive this type of finish. 
 
In concrete walls, both patterning and exposed aggregate allow production of a very wide variety of finishes, as well as pleasing aesthetic finishes. 
 
Patterning developed from the search for techniques to reproduce different elements, natural and architectural, and because of  the quality of the works, it has come to be used in a number of applications, eg malls, housing estates, facades, partition walls and interior decoration. 
 
Several techniques used to enhance aesthetics of concrete walls are also dealt with in this manual.

Abstract:
This manual provides technical criteria and practical rules for the design and construction of vibrated concrete pavements or pavements with a roller compacted base for low-volume roads. Information is given on concrete ingredients, the most appropriate concrete mixtures for these applications, and on the different execution methods.  
 
A catalog of pavement sections has been included, where different options are proposed, depending on the average daily traffic of commercial vehicles, the bearing capacity of the subgrade and the design period.

In addition, roller-compacted concrete pavements and cost estimation are treated fully.

Abstract:
Design and construction of industrial floors are not easy tasks, because they require a close cooperation between all the actors participating in the process (designer, specialized contractors, concrete plants and quality control laboratories of control of quality). 
 
With the purpose of facilitating this work, the manual is written in an attempt to collect all the information needed to design and to build this type of pavement.  
 
Topics covered include aspects related to design (functional characteristics, types of loads, thickness design, joints, reinforcements, materials, finishes, surface evenness etc.), construction, maintenance, strengthening and repair.  
 
The manual has been written with the assistance of a technical committee of experts in this type of pavement.
