EUPAVE Christmas Dinner Debate 2018 on perspectives and expectations for the coming years!

The European Concrete Paving Association (EUPAVE) celebrated its traditional Christmas dinner debate on Tuesday 11 December 2018 at La Belle Maraîchère, Ste Catherine Place in Brussels.

The theme of the dinner was this year “What are the perspectives and expectations for EUPAVE in the coming years”. Only Partners and Members of EUPAVE were invited to debate on the question.

The event started with a brief overview of 2018 by EUPAVE’s Communications and Office Manager, Elise Carabedian.

• In 2018, EUPAVE’s vice-president since 2013 André Burger from Cement&Beton Centrum left his seat and Mr. Rory Keogh from Gomaco took over the position.
• EUPAVE also gained new members and partners. Britpave and Givasa joined as Associate Members and Haitsma Beton, Chem-Crete and Otto Brentzel as Partners.
• Besides increasing its membership, EUPAVE organised 6 events including:
  • The workshop “Concrete Safety Barriers: a Lifetime of Satefy”, 2/03/2018
  • EUPAVE/SPECBEA Workshop during INTERMAT 2018,
  • EUPAVE Breakfast Debate “Tendering for Sustainable Infrastructure in the Circular Economy”, 17/10/2018
  • EUPAVE/FEBELCEM worksite visits of the E420-N5 Couvin, 9/11/2018 and 15/11/2018
  • And last but not least the 13th International Symposium on Concrete Roads from 19 till 22 June 2018. You can find the report of the event here.
• In addition, EUPAVE released 3 publications, 1 annual report, 1 position paper and 1 video:
  • EUPAVE Leaflet « Concrete: a Sustainable Partner of Urban Transport Infrastructure »,
  • EUPAVE Brochure « Concrete Safety Barriers: a safe and sustainable choice »,
  • EUPAVE Publication « A guide on the basic principles of Life-Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) of pavements »,
  • EUPAVE Annual Report 2017,
  • EUPAVE position paper « Tendering for sustainable infrastructure in the circular economy » in October 2018,
  • EUPAVE new promotional video « All benefits of concretes pavements ».

Beyond drafting publications and organising events, EUPAVE hold working group calls for its members and partners on Concrete Safety Barriers, Best Practices and EU Advocacy.

Luc Rens, Managing Director of EUPAVE, informed the participants with a view from inside EUPAVE while Stéphane Nicoud, EUPAVE’s President, presented EUPAVE’s strategic view.

Emiliano Alonso, EU Consultant for EUPAVE, gave the European angle of the Debate.

Finally, Anne Beeldens from AB-Roads gave an evaluation of 3 years of partnership with EUPAVE while Sergio Tortelli from HeidelbergCement gave his view on EUPAVE’s local network development.
